Ferrari Maserati of Alberta wanted me to drive these two so badly (debatable) that they made me wake up at 930AM on a Saturday and buy my own coffee and talk about...things. I don't remember, even though it was only a few hours ago.

Kinja'd!!!

More or less? Both of these are brilliant . The FF especially, the looks on other people's faces as they were passed in the snow and slush and ice by a Ferrari was priceless.

The Ghibli is what you should buy over a equivalent German car. If you don't, you need serious psychiatric help. Thats just how good this car is. Words aren't good enough, go to your local dealer and test drive one. If there is a sport sedan benchmark, its right here.

Bloody Italians, they sure know how to make some magic.

Now that Maserati makes a car that competes with cars like the A6/E-Class/5 Series, NO ONE should be buying an A6/E-Class/5 Series anymore.

I'd be torn between an XF, CTS, and Ghibli in that segment, but all three seem like an easy choice over Ze Germans to me.

Holy shit this. This exactly. These are the only 3 cars that people should be buying nowadays.

I can't imagine ever looking back at my car in an A6, E-Class, 5er, or Lexus GS.

Wow that's awesome that you got to drive an FF and a Ghibli!

Why buy a Ghibli when you can buy a Charger? :p

haha anyway, it's nice to see it's better than the old QP, which was said to be a piece of shit in terms of quality.

Was the Ghibli you drove AWD?

Yup, AWD with a few options but nothing outrageous.

I'd have to drive them back to back to compare. The A6 Quattro is supposed to be pretty nice. I've never even sat in one so I have no idea. A 535i M Sport would be nice too.

The FF is the most exciting thing to me. I actually didn't like it when it first came out. I thought it was silly. But it has grown on me in a big way.

Anyone who can afford the FF should buy it right now!

Which variant of the Ghibli was it. I am actually quite interested in this car and was wondering how comfort, power (performance), and sound (does it sound like sex like the old QP does) compare to the old Quattroporte.

Really curious. How was you allowed to test drive these beautiful machines? Myself is heading towards Europes biggest car house tommorow with a good friend, where we might get the chance of test driving a R8 4.2.

The FF is the best DD hands down. Fast, comfortable, has four seats and plenty of room to put stuff. And AWD to handle the snow.

Hopefully I'll be able to afford to get one in 10 years for 1/3 the price :)

That would be fucking awesome. You never know with Ferraris. Some models depreciate like crazy, but others never go down one cent.

Traditionally the 4 seaters depreciate hard

The old man has a 612. He got it for $130k or so and it was barely used. It was originally a lot more than that.

He maintains it himself.

I read that if the FF holds its value better it will be the first Ferrari 4 seater to do so.

The 599 held its value much better

The Ghibli is awesome no doubt, but all of the ones at my dealer are optioned up to around $80K. You can get a 528 for $50K, so I don't know if that is a slam dunk for some people.

Yeah 599's are still pushing a lot of cash. I'm thinking it'll be quite awhile until the FF gets down to reasonable levels. We are living in the golden age of Ferraris, after all.

I went to my local Maserati dealer recently, they had one for $66k, which is as cheap as you can get them. Knowing most luxury car buyers, they probably option up most of their 5 series/A6/E class to about that price, so it's not completely out of the segment.

I dunno. When the FF is replaced the average FF owner will want the shiny new toy. And enthusiasts who want the old one second hand can only afford so much.

Or at least lets hope :)

I feel like since this car is such a great all-rounder, many non-car people will be buying it and using it as well, making much more available once the next new Ferrari comes around like you said.

Good point! Random rich people that normally buy Bentleys will buy the FF then dump it for the next toy.

I just took this 612 pic for you since we're talking V12 F cars. Look how happy it looks. It thinks it's a Miata

Haha I never noticed that! Silly 612.

Love the FF. Hate the Ghibli. I don't know why...it just doesn't look nice to me. Although it is a mechanically great car. But I'd rather have an M5.
